Vision Statement

Alhambra High School will serve the community as an institution for secondary education which provides its students with a strong emphasis on academics, an enriching supplemental core curriculum, and a comprehensive student activities program.

Alhambra High School will provide an environment which will help students acquire knowledge, explore ideas, ask questions and seek answers. The program must be flexible, taking into account the students' varying backgrounds, previous academic status, and personal hardships.

Teachers and administrators will develop the school curricular programs and select instructional materials appropriate for these programs. The curriculum development plan will include program adoption, implementation, continuation and evaluation.

Funding will be provided for instructional materials needed to implement the school's curricular programs and teacher inservice opportunities. Program books, guides, basic textbooks, audio-visual materials, computer software, computer equipment, and supplemental instructional materials, will be selected by administrators and teachers.

The core curriculum at Alhambra High School will be modified to include special programs such as bilingual ESL, gifted/talented, special education, career guidance, and work experience. Graduation credit is received upon successful completion of these courses. Teachers will use their own professional background to teach toward the objectives of special programs and be encouraged to adapt their teaching style to meet the needs of their students.

Alhambra High School will provide opportunities for students to interact with peoples of all cultures, understand the diversified backgrounds of peoples and cultures, encourage an appreciation and acceptance of their cultural heritage, know the major contributions of cultural groups on the campus and their impact on the United States. Student organizations will plan interactions which positively promote this goal.

The community will meet regularly with teachers and administrators to provide input into development of the school plan. Parent groups will have an integral role in setting goals and objectives each year. Parents, students, teachers and staff will participate each year in a needs assessment survey to assist in goal setting and an annual evaluation of progress each spring.
