Apple Valley, CA -- Apple Valley Animal Services joins the American Humane Association, Petfinder.com and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) in honoring furry animals that purr and meow by declaring June Adopt-a- Cat month.

During the month of June the Town invites the public to adopt a feline friend for just $20 (regularly $35) and have any cat micro-chipped for just $10, half off the usual price.

When the stresses of a world in turmoil or merely a bad day at the office threaten to overwhelm, help is just a cat-in-the-lap away. Feline therapy eases anxiety by lowering blood pressure and releasing "feel good" endorphins. At this time of year when animal shelters are over-flowing with cats of all ages, there has never been a better time to adopt a feline therapist and let a cat heal your heart.

The Town of Apple Valley Animal Shelter is located at 13643 Tonikan Rd., one block west of Central Rd. Shelter hours are Monday-Friday 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
