The Drug Store Project Needs Volunteers!

from:Atwater Chamber of Commerce category:Clubs and Organizations posted:October 12th, 2011
The Atwater Caring About Kids Community Council, in partnership with the Atwater Elementary School District, California National Guard and many other organizations, is hosting its fifth annual Drug Store Project!  The event will take place on Friday, October 28, 2011 on the grounds of Mitchell Senior in Atwater. Please save the date!

This event provides the community of Atwater with an opportunity to come together to sponsor one of the largest collaborative prevention activities in our area.  The Drug Store Project is a comprehensive middle school drug prevention program designed to educate youth about the dangers of substance use and abuse.

It’s time to come together as a community in support of our children and in coalition against the perils of drug and alcohol abuse.  You are receiving this e-mail because you have lovingly supported this event in the past and/or mentioned that you’d like to in the future; we hope that you will!

We are need of volunteers to fill the following positions:

- 16 Timer Leaders – individuals that keep the groups moving on time (4.5 hour commitment)

- 16 Actor Supervisors – these individuals will work one-on-one with a student that has volunteered to be the student who “makes bad choices” in the all-day event. (2 hour commitment)

- 16 Counselors – trained professionals (pastors/counselors/psychologists/therapists) who can respond to any emotional crisis during the day’s event (2 hour commitment)

- 4 Lunch Supervisors – help provide a safe environment for students while others rest in the midst of their day. (2.5 hour commitment)

The event begins at 8:00 a.m., with new “shifts” starting every 15 minutes.   Volunteers are provided with a continental breakfast, lunch, and commemorative t-shirt!

Please review the attached documents for more information and feel free to forward this information on to any service groups that you may be a part of, and/or to any friends and colleagues that may be interested in supporting this event.
