Sparkle In Beverly Hills
The streets will positively shimmer this holiday season as we Sparkle in Beverly Hills during this most wonderful time of year. In a first-ever collaboration with SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS and in cooperation with the City of Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive will glisten as a stunning, state-of-the-art crystal installation is featured prominently along the three blocks of this elite shopping district. Thousands of SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS will adorn the helix-shaped sculpture, combining light and technology to create a dramatic interactive holiday experience. From late November into the New Year, look for sparkle-themed elements and activities throughout Beverly Hills including thousands of twinkling lights, brilliant holiday decor, street entertainment and lots of surprises to brighten your holidays.
One of Beverly Hills' brightest stars, Greystone Mansion, also shines in December as Maison de Luxe, a national Designer Show House event, gets underway at this historic property. Experience all the grandeur of this magnificent estate while admiring the inspired work of more than 20 acclaimed designers who have re-imagined the space for the event. From December 2 -22 (Tuesday through Sunday, 10 am - 3 pm), the public will have a rare opportunity to tour the newly renovated mansion and grounds, now a registered National Historic Landmark. At more than 46,000 square feet and with 18.5 acres of manicured gardens and landscape, this is the largest, most stately designer show house in the country - a must see during the holidays.
Shop Talk
Several new stores have recently opened their doors in Beverly Hills, offering everything from chic clothing and jewelry to haute chocolate and distinctive nail services.
Reflective of her French and Vietnamese roots, Barbara Bui's clothing designs are an eclectic, yet classy mix of "urban cool," blending defined styles with edgy, seductive pieces that have attitude and transition easily from day to night. The Kendra Scott Jewelry collection is anything but subtle. Clients can't get enough of her chunky necklaces and bracelets and chandelier drop earrings set with colorful semi-precious stones, including chalcedony, amethyst and turquoise. Vosges Haut-Chocolat has made a name for itself as a purveyor of haute chocolate with exotic offerings like bacon chocolate truffles, chocolate-dipped caramel marshmallows and sophisticated chocolate bars that are in stark contrast to anything found at the nearest convenience store. The Nail Bar at Beverly Wilshire, A Four Seasons Hotel, distinguishes itself as a refined manicure/pedicure suite, featuring the latest nail technology - the CND Shellac process - which leaves a super glossy finish on fingers and toes that lasts for days. Pampered hands can browse digital magazines and newspapers on one of the available iPads, either in the suite or on the adjoining patio where a small bites menu is available.
Annenberg's Il Teatro Alla Moda
Celebrating the long standing love affair between fashion and theater, the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts proudly presents Il Teatro Alla Moda - Theater in Fashion. This acclaimed exhibit, recently on display in Rome and Milan, explores the relationship between haute couture designers and their impact on the world of dance, opera and theater. Sketches, designs and costumes from the world's most respected fashion designers (Giorgio Armani, Fendi, Missoni, Emanuel Ungaro, Valentino and Gianni Versace) will be on view October 14 - November 13. The exhibit is located on the ground floor of the MGM building (corner of N. Beverly Drive and Dayton Way) while construction continues for the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, scheduled to open in 2013.
