Spotlight The Arts Foundation presents
“Poe In The Dark”
Calabasas, CA- It’s the night before Halloween and an ominous thumping of the Tell-Tale Heart is heard, coming from the dismembered corpse beneath the floor boards of Founders Hall. Hearing an eerie shriek of a Raven, the residents of Calabasas gather to listen to the torture of a prisoner from the Spanish Inquisition. Little do they know he is strapped to a platform above which swings a slowly dropping pendulum blade. Hideous and fatal, the Masque of the Red Death is also waiting for them……are you brave enough to be there?
Get ready to rehearse your scream as actors bring the works of America’s master of macabre, Edgar Allan Poe, to life. In hoping to honor the prolific work of Edgar Allan Poe, this stage-dramatic reading will incorporate his spooky tales and poems, such as “The Pit and the Pendulum”, “The Tell-Tale Heart”, “The Raven”, “Annabel Lee”, “Alone”, “The Bells”, “A Dream Within A Dream”, just to mention a few. Some material may not be appropriate for children.
Directed by Peter Hayes Brothers, author and director, and produced by Gordon Durich, the Calabasas Theatre’s new artistic director, this dynamic duo work together to bring Calabasas these spine-chilling, terror filled stories.
This special one-night only event takes place on:
