The Cypress Community Festival needs you! The Festival is the signature event for the City of Cypress and is produced by the Cypress Festival Association, a volunteer organization. This year the Festival will be held on Saturday, July 24th at Oak Knoll Park.
Community service with the Festival is the ultimate exercise of democracy. Most individuals only have the opportunity to vote in elections once every year or two. By serving with the Festival Association community residents have the opportunity to “vote” every day about the quality of the neighborhood they live in.
Volunteers are needed now to plan this community celebration. The Festival is the largest one-day event of its kind held in Orange County. The most urgent need is for assistance with the Development Committee. This group contacts business owners in the community and encourages them to become Festival Sponsors.
Individuals with writing skills and those who are internet savvy may assist with public relations. Training classes are available for those interested in web site design and upkeep. Another group of volunteers will be working with vendors who want to reserve booth space. There are also committees that plan entertainment, operations and organize volunteers to work on the day of the event.
In these challenging economic times the Festival Association encourages community members to spend time making a real difference by serving others. Volunteerism is really the voices and thoughts of individuals being put into action. These actions serve to shape the present into a better future for everyone.
