City of Elk Grove Hires New City Manager
from:City Of Elk Grove category:Government and Politics posted:May 16th, 2008Elk Grove, CA –The Elk Grove City Council announced tonight that Laura S. Gill, the current Chief Administrative Officer for El Dorado County, has been selected as the new City of Elk Grove City Manager.
Gill was unanimously chosen by the City Council after an extensive selection process. The Elk Grove City Council worked with an executive recruitment firm and conducted multiple interviews before ultimately selecting Gill.
“I am pleased to announce the appointment of Laura Gill to the Elk Grove City Manager position,” said Mayor Gary Davis. “She is a just the leader we need at this critical juncture, as Elk Grove becomes a premier city. We are incredibly fortunate she will occupy such an important post at City Hall.”
Gill has more than 20 years of experience, including 5 years as the El Dorado County Chief Administrative Officer. Prior to her service in El Dorado County, she worked for the City of Durham, North Carolina for more than 15 years. Gill has held a variety of positions throughout her career, including Budget/Management Services Director, Acting Property and Facilities Management Director, Acting Assistant City Manager, and Senior Assistant to the City Manager.
Gill obtained her Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her Bachelor’s Degree from Wake Forest University.
“I am humbled and grateful for this new opportunity to serve the City of Elk Grove,” said Gill. “I look forward to working with the Elk Grove City Council, City staff, and residents who make up this very dynamic community.”
Gill will officially start as City Manager on June 16.
