· Originally from South San Francisco
· Moved to Elk Grove in 1990 to live and train at Shortline Lake
· Married to Jan Detrick for 22 years; three sons, Steven, Brian and Nick
Professional Information
· Employed at PG&E for 34 years, currently as an Associate Electric Distribution Engineer
· Leader of a group that serves PG&E and the Northern California Communities with service planning, new business and reconstruction projects for individuals, developers, cities, counties and the State of California
Community Involvement
· National competitor in USA water-skiing, which brought us to Elk Grove in 1986
· Involved in Youth Sports at all levels - coach and/or supporter for water-skiing, disabled water-skiing, baseball, soccer, football and basketball with local, state and national championships
· USA Water Ski – Nationally rated senior driver & judge, state safety director and trainer
Why Steve Detrick?
· In the 90’s, became involved with community issues that affect Elk Grove including:
o Sheldon Road widening project
o High Density Housing
o Proposed Wal Mart Supercenter at Sheldon & Power Inn Roads
· Co-founder and Spokesperson of Elk Grove Coalition Advocating Proper Planning (EGCAPP)
· Successfully brought forth ordinances passed by the Elk Grove City Council
· Worked with other community groups on projects and summit meetings to better our city
· 30 years of experience with citizens, City, County and State organizations
· High ethical and moral values; pledge respect for everyone above all
· Worked with fellow citizens and the Elk Grove Police Department to address crime and gang prevention
· Worked with the city and county agencies at forums to help work toward resolving the traffic problems and an increase in the quality of public transportation
· Worked together with citizens and financial institutions to look at ways to help citizens with the economic problems that many families are facing today
· Proponent of slow controlled growth as we look and build toward the future together
· Vow to bring more quality businesses and jobs to Elk Grove so that we will be able to support our local business; and promise to keep an “eagle eye” on your tax dollars
