On January 13, 2010, The Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach announced that their endowment fund has reached $500,000 which is the first milestone in securing the Club’s future. The Club’s ultimate goal is to raise $6 million. Reaching this initial goal was made possible through a generous group of Club friends and supporters who are now members of the Heritage Club. Mary Church of Laguna Beach has just become the 43rd member of the Heritage Club. Mary made a contribution to the endowment in memory of Brian Dessin Day and added the Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach as a beneficiary in her life insurance policy. Mary said, “I wanted to see the legacy of our community’s art continue because it is the fabric of Laguna Beach”. These types of gifts will help to ensure that our young people carry on the art and creativity of Laguna Beach by participating in the Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach award winning art programs.
The Heritage Club is an association of friends of the Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach who have included a gift to the Club in their will or estate plans or have given a Legacy gift. These friends and supporters trust the Boys & Girls Club to reach out to young people and make a positive impact on their lives. Most of all, these friends enjoy knowing they have joined together with others to build a stronger organization and a foundation for the future. During this past year, membership in the Heritage Club increased by 28 percent.
Making a donation to the endowment fund is a way to ensure that your gift provides revenue for the Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach forever. The concept is as ingenious as it is simple. A gift to the endowment fund is never spent. Instead, it is invested; each year a portion of the earnings is made available to the Club. The remaining portion of the earnings is returned to the fund to increase the fund’s value and provide for future spending. Over time, the amount of money available to the Club will far exceed the value of the donor’s original gift. And because the gifts into the fund are never spent, the fund will provide support for the Club forever.
It is with deep gratitude that we acknowledge the very special donors who have included the Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach in their estate plans or have given a Legacy gift.
