The mission of the Sea Otter Classic is "to make people's lives better through participation in sport and recreation, and through celebration of an active outdoor lifestyle."

The Cypress Youth Fund is the giving arm of Sea Otter Classic, LLC. The Fund is exclusively philanthropic and is responsible for the disbursement of funds raised by Sea Otter Classic programs to charitable organizations. Sea Otter Classic programs currently include the Sea Otter Classic, Monterey, California and the Cougar Mountain Classic, Sonoma, California.

The Fund focuses on those organizations that benefit their communities in the following areas:
Youth
Sport
Education
Environment

Particular emphasis is given to programs that combat epidemic of childhood obesity by encouraging youth participation in sport and recreation. Research indicates most overweight teenagers become obese adults. By embracing an active lifestyle and good eating habits, the tragedy of cardiovascular disease, Type 2 diabetes, and other potentially fatal conditions may be avoided. Cycling in particular can be enjoyed as a lifelong activity that supports a healthy lifestyle.
