Ipakanni Early College Charter School Set to Launch

Usborne Books & More Read-a-Thon and

Book Fair to Benefit their new High School

The community is invited to join in celebrating literacy and raising funds to open Ipakanni Early College Charter School. The event will kick-off with a two week read-a-thon on Monday, November 9th in sync with an online book fair at www.UBAH.com/BF32962 Children participating in the read-a-thon will not only help raise funds for the new school, but they will also earn FREE books for themselves as well. The fundraising event will conclude with an onsite book fair to be held at Berry Creek Rancheria on December 1st and 2nd and at Mooretown Rancheria on December 3rd and 4th.

Visitors will discover wonderful holiday gifts for the children in their lives and support Ipakanni Early College Charter School at the same time. They will find beautifully illustrated Usborne picture books like “How Big Is a Million” and amazing non-fiction titles like “See Inside Space” that will capture all children’s imaginations. Also popular fiction titles by Kane/Miller will be available, such as “Wilfred Gordon Partridge McDonald.”

Julie McIntosh, of Mooretown Rancheria commented, “We anticipate that the Usborne Books & More book fair will be a great success. Putting books in the hands of children is a very powerful thing, and we are excited to support the children of our community in this way.”

Usborne Books & More independent consultant, Susan Smith, said, “Our Book fairs are a great way to support any school, charity, or organization. We offer one of the most creative and original book lines in the United States, and we provide an incredible variety of fiction and non-fiction titles in all age ranges and subjects to choose from. Our books also adhere to the standards of the Campaign for a Commercial Free Childhood. We promote reading without promoting TV shows, fast food, or movies.”

Usborne Books & More is a division of Educational Development Corporation founded in 1961. Their mission: Delivering educational excellence one book at a time, providing economic opportunity while fostering strong family values, and touching the lives of children for a lifetime.
