School District Recognized for Safety

Palo Alto, CA -- On June 5, 2009, the California Highway Patrol honored four school district bus drivers at their annual end of year celebration. Sharon Hayes received an award for 20 years of safe driving. Adrian Bennett, Peter Comino, and Edduelin Gutierrez all received awards for 10 years of safe driving. The Transportation Department received a certificate of achievement award.

Annually, 26 school bus routes cover approximately 270,000 miles. This includes home to school, special education, athletic field trips, and educational field trips. The department has three recipients of the 20 year safety award. This year’s award recipients join Wanda Caldwell and Derek Zabaldo who have received 20 yr. awards in the past.
