About Paradise

The Town of Paradise has entered an exciting and dynamic era as a small-sized city that has only been incorporated since 1979.

While we are predominately a bedroom community that values its small town heritage, at the same time, we recognize the necessity to strengthen and diversify our local business economy. A stronger local economy will provide more local jobs, reduce the retail sales leakage to Chico, and enable our Town to increase what has been traditionally a limited tax base so that we are able to adequately fund vital, essential services to our community such as police and fire services, and streets and roads improvements.

One of the most important resources that we now have at our Town’s disposal to help improve our local economy is redevelopment. Established in 2003, redevelopment is the primary tool we are utilizing to not only revitalize our Downtown and greater Redevelopment Project Area, but to turn our overall local economy around for the better. Through a combination of public/private partnership-based business incentive/assistance programs, free business counseling services, capital improvement projects, and affordable housing programs, we’re already in this early stage of redevelopment making significant progress. Our Town is also a strong supporter and active participant in the 44-acre Paradise Community Village multi-use project off lower Clark Road that when developed will include affordable housing, single family housing, soccer fields, skate and bike park, community center, future site of the Paradise Middle Charter School, and Paradise Boys & Girls Club.

Finally, as part of our efforts to outreach with our youth, and to get them more involved in helping to shape the future of our community, last year the Town established a seven-member Youth Council. This Youth Council performs two important roles. First, they serve as an advisory body to the Town Council providing input on community issues from a youth perspective, and secondly, they oversee and manage the “Team Paradise” Community Service Corps Program.
