Pulitzer's Gold: A Lecture By Roy Harris, Jr.
Rancho Mirage, CA - The City of Rancho Mirage Public Library will be hosting a stimulating and relevant lecture delivered by Roy Harris Jr., seasoned journalist and former reporter for The Wall Street Journal. With veteran Palm Springs Journalist Dennis Britton, Harris will discuss some of the classic Pulitzer Prize-winning reporting covered in his book Pulitzer's Gold: Behind the Prize for Public Service Journalism. Together the two journalists will explore the future of the press as a watchdog against wrongdoing in society.
Roy Harris, Jr. has spent the last eight years studying American history's greatest public service journalism, and analyzing today's threats to that special type of reporting. It's the kind that, for example, gave us the Pentagon Papers, exposed the Watergate scandal, and revealed the widespread Catholic Church's cover-up of sexual abuse of parishioners by priests. Now based in Boston, where he most recently was senior editor in The Economist Group organization, Harris has been traveling to journalism schools discussing the great reporting covered in his book Pulitzer's Gold.
