Kiwanis Club of Riverside
In the early months of 1920, when the service club movement was in its infancy, a group of Riverside business and professional men met to organize a Kiwanis Club. Later that year, one of those men attended a luncheon meeting of a newly charted Kiwanis Club of Santa Ana, and as a result became the sponsor of the Riverside Club. By November the first organizational meeting was held in the YMCA building, where the ambitious goal of 100 members was set by charter time. The Kiwanis Club of Riverside was officially chartered on January 20, 1921, becoming the 387th Kiwanis Club in the United States and Canada and the 8th club in what was then the Kiwanis District of California. Charter ceremonies were held at the Glenwood Mission Inn, April 23, 1921, with 96 charter members.
