SACRAMENTO,CA---Just in time for the new school year the official Governor’s Mansion State Historic Park Teacher’s Guide is now available, published by California State Parks with assistance from non-profit partner Sacramento Historic Sites Association.

For school groups planning a field trip to the Historic Governor’s Mansion or for classroom use, teachers can prepare their students to learn about the Mansion and its architecture, the Gallatin family who built it in 1877, and the thirteen governors’ families who lived here between 1903 and 1967. (Governor Ronald Reagan and family were the last fulltime residents.)

Chocked full of creative lesson plans, engaging worksheets, full-color photographs, and carefully rendered architectural drawings, this 130 page handbook provides teachers and students alike with a tool to enrich their fieldtrip experience or for handy classroom introduction.

The Governor’s Mansion Teacher’s Guide is available in a loose-leaf notebook at the Mansion’s Museum Store for $7.00 or can be downloaded for free through the Mansion’s webpage, www.parks.ca.gov/governorsmansion by clicking on “Teacher’s Guide” in the right hand column.
