Party for the Planet - Earth Day Celebration

This fun and informative celebration of Earth Day is aimed at educating and entertaining Bay Area families on green, sustainable living solutions inside and outside the Zoo. It incorporates everything you love about the Zoo and its animals. A variety of local, earth-friendly companies and services will be on hand for visitors, as well as "green-themed" music and puppet performances the whole family will enjoy. Learn and see more on how the Zoo maintains a green commitment to the animals and the environment. You can actively Party for the Planet as you Reduce, Reuse and Recycle at the Zoo!

- Participate in a self-guided scavenger hunt, sponsored by Chronicle Books, and learn how you can "Change the World for Ten Bucks."
- Catch a sneak preview of Disneynature's EARTH and collect posters, memorabilia and more.
- See the Bad Goods – a kid-friendly band singing "green-themed" songs.
- Watch Puppet Art Theater Co. share a classic story of the Three Little Pigs with an eco-friendly twist.
- Pick up a Party for the Planet activity book, brought to you by the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, with fun activities about saving amphibians by protecting our waterways!

Early Birding Tour
8:30 to 10 a.m.
Ages 10 and up
Free (does not include admission)

Meet at the Zoo's Main Entrance for a guided birding tour of the Zoo in celebration of the Earth Day! Bring binoculars so that you can easily spot the many local and migratory species of birds that spend time at the Zoo. Tour begins promptly at 8:30 a.m., late arrivals cannot be accommodated.

E-Waste Collection
9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Collection location is on Herbst Road

Celebrate Earth Day by responsibly disposing of your unwanted computers, monitors, televisions, VCRs and more. Items not accepted: large appliances, kitchen appliances, stoves, refrigerators, dishwashers, or packaging. A single complimentary Zoo admission for one guest will be given to every vehicle dropping off e-waste. Thanks to E-Waste Recycling of California for offering this valuable service!
