Schwabacher Summer Concert-Merola 2009

This delightful potpourri of extended scenes from operas by Wagner, Gluck, Menotti, Rossini and Puccini is perfect for both the seasoned opera lover and the uninitiated. Hear the concert in the intimate acoustics of Herbst Theatre on Friday evening, with tickets starting at only $25 ($15 for students*). Then on Sunday afternoon you can bring a group of family and friends and enjoy the music—and sun—as the Merola participants perform the concert at Yerba Buena Gardens free of charge. Widely regarded as the foremost opera training program for aspiring singers, coaches and stage directors, the Merola Opera Program is the cornerstone of San Francisco Opera’s training and performance programs for promising artists. Merola has served as a proving ground for hundreds of artists, including Sylvia McNair, Anna Netrebko, Patricia Racette, Ruth Ann Swenson, Carol Vaness, Deborah Voigt, Susan Graham, Dolora Zajick, Brian Asawa, Gary Lakes, Kurt Streit, Jess Thomas, Rolando Villazón, Thomas Hampson, John Relyea and Patrick Summers.
