The San Jose Museum of Art is dedicated to fostering an awareness, appreciation, and understanding of twentieth- and twenty-first-century art in the diverse audiences of the Bay Area. The Museum achieves its mission through exhibitions, education programs, collections, publications, and outreach programs, all of which are designed to serve, engage and enrich the individual and the community. In carrying out its mission, the San Jose Museum of Art will sustain and cultivate the importance and value of the visual arts in our society.
The San Jose Museum of Art is the only museum in San Jose accredited by the American Association of Museums, a recognition given to only 750 of the nation's 8,000 museums. A public benefit 501(c)3 organization located in downtown San Jose, SJMA serves 200,000 people a year. 55,000 are children, nearly 40,000 of whom participate in our locally applauded Studio Arts Education programs.
