Earth Day Fair

On Wednesday, the City & County of Denver will be celebrating Earth Day to inspire awareness and appreciation for our planet. The “2009 Earth Day Fair” will be held in Civic Center Park, Greek Amphitheater.

The fair is free and open to the public.  Attendees can learn about all types of “Earth Friendly” activities going on in our communities.  Exhibits will include information on energy conservation, recycling, composting, pollution prevention, transit options, saving water, renewable energy, natural resources, and much, much more.

Earth Day is an annual celebration to honor our planet and to raise environmental awareness. It is a day for individuals to stop and think about how their actions impact our environment and what they can do to help protect it. Here are some examples of simply positive actions anyone can take to reduce their impact on our environment:

- Start recycling or recycle even more materials.
- Fix a leaky faucet and take shorter baths;
- Change out incandescent light bulbs with a new energy efficient CFL bulbs;
- Create a compost pile in your backyard or school; and
- Carpool or take the bus whenever you can.

The "2009 Earth Day Fair ” is sponsored by the City & County of Denver in partnership with Denver Environmental Health, Greenprint Denver, Denver Public Works, Solid Waste Management/Denver Recycles, Parks and Recreation and Facilities Planning & Management.
