category:Arts and Entertainment posted:May 9th, 2008

Celebrate Denver’s finest, cutting-edge kitchens at the Junior League of Denver’s (JLD)  5th Annual “Kitchens That Cook!” self-guided kitchen tour on Sunday, June 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This year’s JLD “Kitchens That Cook!” tour features seven upscale, sophisticated kitchens located in Denver’s most prestigious neighborhoods, including CherryHillsVillage and Greenwood Village, in addition to many other special events. Also, in celebration of the 5th year of “Kitchens That Cook!” and the Junior League of Denver’s 90th anniversary, this year’s tour also features an impressive array of special events -- including a “Toast to the Tour” Patron Party and Silent Auction at Kitchen Table in Greenwood Village, Host Committee Luncheon catered by Catertaining, Pre-Tour Brunch at Denver Country Club, and special events that will be hosted in each home. “Kitchens That Cook!”  tour tickets are $20 in advance, or $25 day of the tour and are available at www.jld.org. Tickets are available at the homes on the tour the day of the event.

Explore seven of Denver’s most innovative kitchens and discover new ways to design a kitchen. This year’s kitchens are located in the city’s most coveted neighborhoods -- CherryHillsVillage, Hilltop, and Greenwood Village. Designers participating in this year’s event are Design a la Carte, Monarch Design-Build, Kitchen Distributors, bulthaup by Kitchen Distributors, and Eve’s Creations/Squibb Estates.  These designers and kitchens were selected because they represent a wide range of styles, from traditional and European country estate, to sleek urban sophistication and upscale rustic.

For those who have a penchant for Old World French Country design, Monarch Design-Build is hosting a kitchen that features 120-year-old flooring reclaimed from a Chateau in France, in addition to antiques and other reclaimed materials from centuries-old homes in France. Eve Squibb of Eve’s Creations displays a city traditional style kitchen, with updated classic elements that will age gracefully with the home. Guests will also view one of Design a la Carte’s kitchens outfitted in traditional design with modern accents that’s ideal for entertaining large gatherings, in addition to Kitchen Distributors kitchen, where the design leans toward Tuscan-style accents with functionality that allows for entertaining large parties as well.

This year’s sponsors include Colorado Expression Magazine, Architecture & Design of the West, Perry & Company, and National Kitchens and Bath Associations Rocky Mountain Chapter.

Special Events, Floral Designs & Unique Tabletops

The JLD’s 5TH Annual “Kitchens That Cook!” tour will also feature the latest in tabletop design and floral arrangements, in addition to fine food samples from Denver’s top restaurants and cookbooks from Junior Leagues across the country. Participating florists include A Design Resource, Ed Moore Florist, HMK Florist, Newberry Brothers Florist, Delilah’s, Elizabeth Eberly Flowers and Sarah Nicklos.
