Event Partners with Rio Grande Scenic Railroad Season Opening
Monte Vista – Art in the Park will partner with Rio Grande Scenic Railroad to open the new season Memorial Day weekend in Fullenwider Park.
The weekend, May 23-24, will kick off on Saturday at 10 a.m., with artists displaying and selling their creations. The railroad will pull its train into the Monte Vista depot at the park that morning, offering a round trip from Alamosa for $12. The event will feature speakers and games.
Art in the Park is presented by the Monte Arts Council (MAC), which hosts the event each Sunday in the summer. This year, the kick-off weekend will also include Saturday. The event is a laid-back, relaxed social and retail venue for artists and patrons. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Artists wishing to participate are welcome to join. MAC members may vend for no charge all summer. Non-members may set up for $10 per weekend. All work must be original.
Also, try the restaurants at the edge of the park – including an ice cream parlor, Italian restaurants, pizza and more.
