Chlorination to Continue Until Notice from State

Monte Vista – New samples of the city water system have come back clear of a naturally occurring bacteria that led the state to mandate chlorination of the system.

The City will continue to chlorinate the water until the state Health Department gives notice that such action is no longer required. The City began adding chlorine to the water system May 9 after routine water testing showed positive results for coliform, which are bacteria naturally found in the environment.

City officials wish to thank the community of Monte Vista for its patience during the chlorination.
