Auxiliary of Ahlbin Center For Rehabilitation

The mission of the Ahlbin Rehabilitation Centers, a non-profit organization, is to provide care to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay. The Auxiliary supports the Ahlbin Centers to succeed in their mission by helping them to maintain a position of excellence in the field of rehabilitation medicine through various fundraisers held throughout the year.

Our next fundraiser, The Enchanted Castle is going to be held at The Burr Mansion from October 22 through October 31, 2009. Parents and their children can tour six fantasy theme rooms: Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, The Wizard of Oz, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and new this year—The Pirate Room. This event is designed for children 2-10 years of age and will amaze every person who visits, no matter what age!

The event will be chaired by auxiliary members Kay Smith, Debbie Charles and Shaun Amberg, all from Fairfield.

The Castle Hours:

Thursday October 22^nd and Friday, October 23^rd: 4 - 7 PM

Saturday, October 24^th: 10 AM - 5 PM

Sunday, October 25^th: 12 noon - 5 PM

Monday, October 26^th through Friday, October 30^th: 4 – 7 PM

Saturday, October 31^st: 10 – 4 PM

Admission is $5 per person

School groups and Play groups are welcome to make a reservation to come on Tuesday, October 27^th and Wednesday, October 28^th from 9 am until noon. To make your reservation, please contact: info@enchantedcastle.org.

The Auxiliary for the Ahlbin Centers will host a special event at this year’s Castle: The Teddy Bear Picnic. The Center’s youngest patients, youngest patients, children enrolled in the Early Intervention Program, are invited to tour the castle and enjoy a picnic lunch with all the characters. The Early Intervention Program is for Children from birth to age three with developmental delays, neurological, orthopedic, speech disorders, and physical conditions such as burns.

The Auxiliary's fundraising events, which include The Enchanted Castle, The Hallmark Tea, and a Spring Fashion Show, give our members many opportunities for community outreach.

In May, the Auxiliary sponsors the Junior Wheelchair Meet, the only one of its kind in Fairfield County. Over thirty children participate in various events ranging from 25 to 200 meters distance races in manual and motorized wheelchair categories, obstacle courses of varying degrees of difficulty and different types of ball throwing. The Junior Wheelchair Meet provides an opportunity for the children to not only compete, but also to socially interact and brings their families together for mutual support.
