This exhibition features paintings on paper by Tom Weaver, Chair, Department of Art at HunterCollege. Weaver's range of painterly means encodes subtle contradictions in his works which combine the "immediacy of touch" of "pointillist" drawing, glazing technique, blending, scumbling and dripping with "mechanized" devices for repetition, found wood blocks and decorative-pattern rollers. These combination assemblage images are not seamless but rather assert and question their own authority. The artist communicates states of introspection, absorption, isolation, revery and loss of control.
