The Fairfield Arts Council (FAC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Billie Jean Sullivan as Executive Director effective July 1, 2008. Ms. Sullivan comes to FAC with over twenty-five years of graphic arts, communication, gallery and curatorial experience. Most recently, Ms. Sullivan served as the Gallery Director and President of City Lights Gallery in Bridgeport, CT. She graduated from Paier College of Art with a major in graphic communication and has an Arts Administration certificate from New York University.

Ryan Odinak, FAC’s long-time Executive Director, moves on to create and lead the Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County. The Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County was created by FAC, the One Coast One Future initiative and a regional steering committee, to provide collaborative marketing, advocacy and professional development for artists and cultural organizations throughout Coastal Fairfield County.

The Fairfield Arts Council will now focus exclusively on cultural activities and advocacy that directly impact the town of Fairfield and connect to the region. These programs include the FAC gallery, downtown Banner Project, Arts in the Community programs for the under-served, the Scholarship Exhibit for high school students and the Artist of the Year event among others.

The regional support services for artists and cultural organizations that were formerly delivered through the Fairfield Arts Council will now be provided by the Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County. These include the regional cultural calendar, capacity building workshops and information service for cultural organizations, professional development and information service for artists, the Peer Advisory Network Program, maintaining regional cultural databases and acting as an advocate in regional and state forums. The Alliance will be contacting organization members and artists about how they may benefit from these services. You may contact the Alliance by calling 203-256-2329 or emailing info@CulturalAllianceFC.org.

Both organizations will be housed at 70 Sanford Street. The office hours will now be Tuesday-Friday, 10:00am-4:00pm and in addition, the FAC gallery will be open Saturdays, 1:00am-4:00pm. The Fairfield Arts Council contact information remains the same.

Thank you for your continued support of both organizations.
