K.D. Lang Show
from:Fairfield Theatre Company category:Arts and Entertainment posted:October 8th, 2008Multiple Grammy winner, kd lang has changed the face of country music forever. From her debut with Roy Orbison on his classic hit “Crying,” to her recording of “Golden Slumbers” for the soundtrack of the children’s movie Happy Feet, Lang never repeats herself. An early infatuation with the music of Patsy Cline led her to form a Cline tribute band, the Reclines in 1983. By ’85 she had earned the Canadian Juno Award for Most Promising Female Vocalist. Awards, accolades and more albums followed. Lang sang at the closing ceremonies of the Winter Olympics in Canada, has performed with Bonnie Raitt, Tony Bennett, new sensation Madeleine Peyroux and Anne Murray among others, and has starred in a wide range of TV and film. The New York Times raves: "Few singers command such perfection of pitch. Her voice, at once beautiful and unadorned, invariably hits the middle of a note and remains there.”
