Local Kiwanian Attends Annual Convention

More than 5000 members, member-volunteers, families and guests from around the world gathered in Orlando for Kiwanis International's 93rd annual convention.  The Kiwanis

Club of Fairfield was represented by club president Cynthia Perham.

Kiwanis club delegates elected Don Canaday of Fishers, Indiana as 2008-2009 Kiwanis International President-Designate.  Paul Palazzolo of Springfield, Illinois, will be

President-Elect- Designate, and Sylvester Neal of Auburn, Washington, Vice-President-Designate.

Kiwanis and its Service Leadership Programs boast a membership of more than 600,000 men, women and youth in nearly 16,000 clubs in more than 70 countries and geographic areas.

Members of Kiwanis and its Service Leadership Programs volunteer more than 21 million hours and invest more than $113 million in their communities  around the world.

Kiwanis club delegates also voted on amendments and resolutions, including length of terms in office, balloting and use of the Kiwanis mark.

The Kiwanis Club of Fairfield is part of the New England District of Kiwanis International and provides many services projects and fundraisers that better the lives of local children.

Recent club projects have addressed  working to stop substance abuse, promoting literacy and supporting youth sports and recreation.  The Kiwanis Club of Fairfield also plays a

special role in developing future generations of leaders by sponsoring both Key Clubs and Circle K Clubs at the high school and college levels.  Membership is open to any civic minded

professionals, business people and residents that choose to make a positive impact on the children of our community.  The Kiwanis Club of Fairfield meets every Wednesday at
