Girls Softball is organized under the charter of Little League which is a nonprofit organization. Softball is for all girls who will be between the ages of 7 through 14 as of December 31, 2008, and who reside in Fairfield.

General League Information
After registration closes in February (2/8/09), the league officials will begin to form teams and divisions. FLLGS League Board of Directors will re-arrange or re-group teams in order to establish fair and balanced divisions. Girls playing in the Junior Minors division (ages 7 and 8) are generally grouped by schools.
Girls who first enter the minors or majors will be asked to attend a skills assessment for placement purposes only. If attending an assessment creates a stressful situation please notify the league to work out a pleasant solution. Girls ages 7 and 8 do not attend a skills assessment.

Parents who wish to have their daughter considered for play at a higher level than their age would dictate must email this address by February 10 to request a skills assessment. FLLGS@sbcglobal.net
ALL GIRLS WHO ARE REGISTERED PRIOR TO OUR REGISTRATION DEADLINE WILL BE PLACED ON A TEAM.

Games and Practices
The season begins in early April when teams usually practice twice per week. Parents will be contacted by your team manager by April 7'th with your daughter's schedule. Regular season games begin soon after the end of the April school vacation. 13-14 YO players (Juniors/'93 & '94 Birthdays) will have games scheduled prior to the April vacation. The season will conclude by the end of June. There are usually 2 games (and/or practices) per week, sometimes more.

League Events

Opening Day Ceremonies - Food, fun and games "league spirit wear"!

Memorial Day Parade - Come and march in the Memorial Day Parade. The league hopes to have a float too!

Friday Night Lights - Attend league scheduled games during the season on Friday nights at Tom Haydon Field. This allows girls from the minors and up to enjoy playing "under the lights"!

Interested in managing or coaching a team?

If so the league will provide you with plenty of help. We will be conducting coaches' clinics in February and March to help new and experienced coaches prepare for the upcoming season. Please see requirements under volunteer forms on this website.
