The Bendheim Gallery At The Greenwich Arts Council Presents Pen Women – Progressions

The Greenwich branch of the National League of American Pen Women will take over the Arts Council’s Bendheim Gallery this fall to stage a lively exhibit of work by members who are visual artists.  Entitled PROGRESSIONS, the show will display the artists’ current work in comparison with examples or photographs of earlier pieces.

The show will cover a wide range of art work, from painting to sculpture to the photography of Lee Paine spectacularly transferred to stainless steel.  A special feature will be the work of Ellen Hackl Fagan on the uncanny relationship of sound and color.

The Pen Women exhibit will also provide the background for a new illustrated lecture by award-winning photographer Libby Collins, who is a member of the sponsoring organization.  Her talk, entitled “The Elegant Earth: Secrets of Artistic Nature Photography,” will be given at noon on September 19.  Designed to benefit photographers of all levels, the talk is illustrated by 120 of Ms. Collins’ prize-winning photographs to provide clear examples of her recommended techniques.  The digital show is the successor to her slide lecture, “A Passion for Nature,” which she has delivered to more than 50 enthusiastic audiences from Maine to Michigan.  Her non-technical, art-oriented approach promises more beautiful and more consistent nature photographs.

Participating artists include: Mary Branch, Fran Brooks, Hilda Cardwell, Libby Collins, Kathleen DiGiovanna, Ellen Hackl Fagan, Sylvia Felcyn, Diana Grupé, Richelle Iversson, Hazel Jarvis, Catherine Lepoutre, Jean MacFarland, Liana Moonie, Barbara O’Shea, Lee Paine, Marialiisa Pettengill, Mary Lee Robertson, Catherine Stahl, Heather Mason Sandifer, Constance Stancell, Nancy Stengel, Rosemary Webber, and Ban White.

Exhibition Duration: September 11– October 4 2008
