Gardens of the Heart - Piano and Poetry in Celebration of Summer Solstice

Come for a relaxing, reflective time with Margot Dilmaghani and hear the lyrical, creative expressions by the Romantics and 20th century composers and poets. Margot Dilmaghani of Purchase NY, a life-long musician and environmental activist. She has researched women composers and features Lili Boulanger, Germaine Tailleferre along with familiar favorites. One piece that will be played is, "A Hermit Thrush at Morn" by Amy Beach, a 20th century American composer.  Her notation on the composition says "These bird calls are exact notaitons of hermit thrush songs, in the original keys but an octave lower, obtained at the MacDowell Colony, Peterborough, N.H."

Margot is a graduate of Northwestern University’s School of Music. Since the year 2000, she has recorded 5 piano CDs, played on NPR stations and selling in independent stores country wide.  CDs available at the event. Margot donates the proceeds from her CD sales are donated to not-for-profit organizations working for women's health and environmental causes.
