CT Association of Nonprofits Donates 120 Toys for Children in Need, Honors Community Leaders at 7th Annual Connecticut Nonprofit Conference.

Hartford, Conn - The CT Association of Nonprofits, based in Hartford, recently hosted the 7th Annual Connecticut Nonprofit Conference at the Omni Hotel in New Haven. Nearly 450 people joined the Association for a day-long event of networking, panel discussions and speakers, aimed at helping nonprofits survive and thrive in a down economy. In the spirit of the holiday season, 120 toys were collected at the conference and will be given to NBC Connecticut’s Joy of Sharing Toy Drive to benefit the United Way and Toys For Tots.

The conference also honored community leaders: Christine Stuart, a resident of Windsor and publisher and editor of CT News Junkie, received the Media Award for her reporting on a variety of public policy issues and politics; State Representatives Betsy Ritter (D-38) of Waterford and Steve Fontana (D-87) of North Haven received a Legislative Award for their public service and volunteer efforts; Ron Cretaro of Hartford was recognized for his contributions to the nonprofit sector and celebrated his 30th year as executive director of CT Nonprofits.

“We are thrilled with the outcome of this year’s conference,” said Mark Berardi, Director of Membership Development & Training Services. “What initially looked great on paper really translated into a dynamic event. It’s inspiring to have nonprofit decision makers from all over the state connect for a day to discuss political, social and economic matters that directly affect nonprofits. And the amount of toy donations we received for the Joy of Sharing Toy Drive blew us away.”
