The White Memorial Foundation is a 4,000-acre wildlife sanctuary located in Litchfield and Bantam. Thirty-five miles of trails criss-cross various habitats and are open to the public for passive recreation. The White Memorial Conservation Center is the education branch of the Foundation which offers environmental education programs to schools, scouts, and the public. The Center also runs the White Memorial Nature Museum, a state-of-the-art facility which focuses on the habitats found outdoors. Inter-active exhibits, live animals, and a gift shop are also in the Museum.
