The New Canaan Historical Society was founded in 1889 in New Canaan, Connecticut, US, with the mission "to bring together and arrange the historical events of the town of New Canaan, the genealogies of the families who have lived in the town, to form a library and to collect relics and curiosities, to form a museum." We invite you to visit our five historic buildings with seven museums and a library housing modern archives and extensive collections. Our members take great pride in the preservation of their local history dating back to 1713.

Fulfilling the Society's mission, we bring together the historical artifacts, events and family genealogies of our town. Our museums preserve and display collections, relics and curiosities of New Canaan's past. With education as our primary focus, we offer historical and genealogical research and publications in our library as well as numerous educational programs. The Society also displays both permanent and changing historical exhibits. Our records, artifacts and museums are treasures that we share with all who are interested, and we encourage volunteers to aid in the ongoing preservation effort of New Canaan's history.
