Tribute To Paul Newman
running time:09:52 added by:TillyFlop source: YouTubePaul Leonard Newman was born in January of 1925, the second son of Arthur and Theresa Newman in Cleveland, Ohio. The Newman's were a well-to-do family and Paul grew up in a nice home in Shaker Heights. Newman's father was the owner of a highly successful sporting goods store. Paul's mother and his uncle Joe's interest in creative arts rubbed off on him. By 1950, the 25 year old Newman had graduated high school, been kicked out of Ohio University for unruly behavior, served three years in the Navy during World War II as a radio operator, graduated from Ohio's Kenyon College, married his first wife, Jackie, and had his first child, Scott. 1950 was also the year that Paul's father died. When he became successful in later years, Newman said if he had any regrets it would be that his father wasn't around to see it. He brought Jackie back to Shaker Heights and he ran his father's sporting goods store for a short period. Then, knowing that wasn't the career path he wanted to take, he moved Jackie and Scott to New Haven, Connecticut where he would attend Yale University's School of Drama. While doing a play there, Paul was spotted by two agents who invited him to come to New York City to pursue a career as a professional actor. After moving to New York, Paul acted in guest spots for various television shows and in 1953 came a big break. He got the part as an understudy of the lead role in the successful Broadway play Picnic. Through this play is how he met actress Joanne Woodward, who was also an understudy in the play. While they got on very well and there was a strong attraction, Paul was married and his second child, Susan, was born that year. During this time Newman was also accepted into the much admired and popular New York Actor's Studio, although he wasn't technically auditioning. In 1957, with a handful of films to his credit, he was cast in The Long, Hot Summer (1958) co-starring none other than Joanne Woodward. During the shooting of this film, they realized they were meant to be together and by now, so did Paul's wife Jackie. After Jackie gave Paul a divorce, he and Joanne married in Las Vegas in January of 1958. They went on to have three daughters together and raised them in Westport, Connecticut.

But we knew today was the day of the concert and we had to prepare so we got up. Rachel made breakfast and we sat down and ate. Sarah- Mmmmmm.....waffles! Claire- Oh Sarah! Sarah- What? Claire- Nevermind *rachel and claire laugh* Sarah- What? Whats so funny? Rachel- Inside joke sorta....*giggles* Sarah's mom comes downstairs with Danielle Sarahs mom- Hey Girls! Sarah- *with mouthful of food* hi mom Sarah's mom- Ugh, don't talk with your mouth full Sarah! Its not polite! Sarah- *rolls eyes* whatever Rachel- OK moving on I'm done with my food. Sarah- *finishes the last piece of waffle* Me too Claire- Same here! *takes everyones dishes and puts them in the sink* We all go upstairs and put on our outfits. Rachel- Ok! Time to do makeup! S and C- ok We put on our makeup and make sure not to do to much. We look at the clock. Claire- OMG its 3:00!!! Rachel- It takes 2 hours to drive there and the concert starts at 6 but we hafta arrive 45 minutes earlier to claim our tickets and backstage passes since we won them. And we hafta be in our seats 15 minutes before the show. Ok? Sarah- Ok. Can we stop by Dominos or something I'm starving! Claire- Your always hungry Sarah- Exactly my point! Rachel- I don't see how you can eat so much and still have that nice skinny body Sarah- HEY! Wait.....was that supposed to be an insult or compliment? Rachel- Either one Sarah- oh, ok. Wait....HEY!!!!! C and R- *laughs* Claire- Cummon lets go! Sarah- Ok! We got in the car except right before we left Sarah remembered the posters and she ran in and got them. Sarah- Phew! we almost forgot these! Rachel- Good remembering Sarah. Sarah- Thanks We drove for about an hour talking about the concert and the backstage passes and meeting joe kevin and nick with sarahs eyes glued to the window the whole time until she suddenly screamed DOMINOS ON THE RIGHT!!!! We pulled in and quickly ordered a medium pepperoni pizza, but then Sarah insisted large and we got a large pizza instead. We got back in the car and Rachel started driving again. Sarah- Why can't I drive??? Rachel- Cuz you can't drive for life Sarah- Not true! I'm an excellent driver!! Claire- *coughs* Sarah, you said that to my mom so you could drive us to the mall and you crashed her car into a tree Rachel- you did WHAT!? Sarah- I've only done that 1 time! Claire- Thats because you've only driven a car ONCE!!! Sarah- Soooo?!? Claire- Whatever We ate our pizza, rachel got 2 pieces, I got 2 pieces, and Sarah got 4. She ate 1 half of the pizza! Wow! Finally, we arrived. It was only 5:10 so we had time. We got in line and when we got to the front Sarah told them her name and email and that she won the 3 tickets and backstage passes. She gave them to us and we went in. We found our seats. Rachel- Wow! Right in front! Claire- AND in the middle! Sarah- We got the best seats in the house! *happy dances* R and C- Oh sarah Sarah- What? R and C- Nothin *smiles* Sarah- Whatever. lets sit down and wait for the concert to start. We got 20 minutes. Claire- Ok Rachel- Sooo....what do you wanna do while we wait? ________________BACKSTAGE___________ Joe's POV I am so excited for our concert! We haven't played in Connecticut in such a long time! And after this we have one more concert then we get to go to New Jersey to be at home for awhile. * Joe Sighs and Smiles* Kevin- Cummon Joe stop daydreaming and help me find Nick! Joe- Ok! LOUD ANNOUNCER SPEAKER- ATTENTION GUESTS, THE CONCERT WILL START IN 10 MINUTES. PLEASE TAKE YOUR SEATS. Kevin- Uh-oh. Did you hear that? We have 10 minutes to find Nick! Joe- So? Kevin- What do you mean so??? He could be ANYWHERE!!! Joe- Or he could be over there by the curtain looking at the crowd. *points to the curtain where nick is.* Kevin- *running over to Nick* NIIICCCKKK!!! What are you doing? Nick- Oh, just looking at the audience. And you? Joe- *walks over to his bros* you guys we have 5 minutes Kevin- How do you know? Stage crew person- Kevin! Joe! Nick! Your on in 5! Kevin- Oh..... Nick- Lets get ready J and K- Ok Nick looks out the curtain again. I can't help but wonder what he's looking at. I'll wait till he follows kevin then take a quick peek. Kevin- Joe! Nick! Cummon! Nick- Coming! *turns away from curtain and goes over to Kevin* I walk to the curtain and look through. Then I see what he was looking at. My mouth dropped open..... ______________________________________________________________ BAM! End of chapter! What was nick and joe looking at? Who knows?
