Family Film Series: Oh Brother! My Brother

Two documentaries, one action-oriented and one the tale of two young boys, are featured in The Ridgefield Playhouse Film Society’s Family Film Series on Saturday, May 17 at 7:30 p.m. “King Lines,” directed by Josh Lowell and filmed by him and his brother Brett Lowell, follows rock climber Chris Sharma on his search for the planet’s greatest challenges. “Oh Brother! My Brother,” a short film produced, directed and filmed by their father Ross Lowell captures a day in the life of Josh at age 6 and his other brother Evan at age 2.  A Q&A, featuring the three filmmakers and hosted by Emmy Award television journalist Morton Dean will follow the screening.

Both Josh and Brett Lowell are Emmy Award-winning sports documentary filmmakers. In their film, “King Lines,” they follow Chris Sharma from South America to Europe to the American West, learning about his unique lifestyle and his motivations.

“Oh Brother! My Brother,” an Academy-Award nominated short film by Ross Lowell, reveals the love/hate relationships of siblings in a charming way. Filmed over 25 years ago, it has lost none of its immediacy, tenderness or insight into childhood.
