Wildflower Celebration

Enjoy a magnificent display of spring ephemerals at our annual celebration of the season. Stroll through our native plant gardens at the peak of their glory; enjoy live music, gardening demonstrations, family programming, and more. A variety of food selections are available for purchase and the first 1,000 families receive a free native plant.

Activities:

Charlie Plants a Tree - Become a chipmunk and overcome obstacles to help plant an acorn.
Face Painting - Be transformed into a magical being!
Can You Find Me? Scavenger Hunt– Explore Mt. Cuba’s gardens to discover the places plants call home.
Pollinator Watch - BEE active in your community!, Main House Terrace - Learn about Mt. Cuba Center’s Pollinator Watch citizen science project and get started observing and supporting pollinators in your own neighborhood.
Great Native Plants for Sun & Shade - Discover some of the best native wildflowers for your yard.
Native Container Raffle - Win a beautiful container of native plants. Drawing will take place at 4 pm; you need not be present to win.
Plant Research, - Find out which varieties of native plants have performed best in our trials.
Tree Planting and Care - Talk with a Certified Arborist about how to plant and care for trees.
Conservation Station - Meet Mt. Cuba’s Natural Lands staff and learn about the wildlife that surrounds us.
Nature Book Nook, - Take a rest with your choice from our selection of children’s nature books.
Log Life, Upper - Use your digging skills to inspect a log and discover what is living inside.
Tadpole Viewing Station - Meet some of the tadpoles growing up in Mt. Cuba’s ponds and learn about the frog life cycle.
Kids’ Nature Play - Play a game or use your imagination to make believe you live in a garden.
Spin on Natives - Play our “wheel of fortune” while learning about the benefits of using native plants.
Composting Exhibit - Composting systems don’t have to be complicated or expensive.
Mt. Cuba Center Education - Meet Mt. Cuba’s Education staff and find out about upcoming classes.
