The Chicago Firehouse Restaurant, located at 1401 South Michigan Avenue in the South Loop, and formerly Engine Company 104 of the Chicago Fire Department, is getting a jumpstart on celebrating National Firefighters’ Day on Friday, May 3 from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. The iconic restaurant will once again host an elegant brunch for Chicago firefighters from Ignite the Spirit, which helps Chicago Firefighter Department families in need. New to this year, the Chicago Fire Department Foundation along with the Chicago Fire Department's Gold Badge Society will also have a presence, which supports the families of those fallen, and local firefighter recruits. There will also be an unveiling of a large canvas created by students of Old St. Mary’s School honoring firefighters will be presented at the event. Hundreds of firefighters will attend.

One of the most iconic restaurants in Chicago, The Chicago Firehouse Restaurant, formerly a fire station called Engine Company 104, is going strong after 23 years, anchoring the South Loop. The restaurant is founded by Laura and Matt O’Malley, Southsiders (Matt is a Marist graduate, and Laura, a graduate of Mother McAuley High School) who also reside in the South Loop. The Chicago Firehouse Restaurant serves over 100,000 people per year in their legendary main dining rooms, their lush backyard patio space, and their elegant private dining rooms. The ambitious duo launched this year the Blue Room, a “drinking den” in the spirit of a speakeasy, in the lower level of the restaurant, featuring live music, bespoke cocktails, and creative and inspired food to much acclaim.

Inspired by both the history and beauty of the restaurant, Chef de Cuisine Oscar Montesinos incorporates a thoughtful approach to The Chicago Firehouse Restaurant’s quintessential steakhouse menu and brings his culinary expertise to The Chicago Firehouse kitchen with fares including prime steaks, fresh seafood, and signature dishes.
