Our annual Midsommar Festival is a wonderful opportunity for us to remember our community's Swedish roots and share our traditions with folks far and wide.

Schedule of Events

7 am - 9 am - Midsommar Frukost (breakfast) at the Thomas Park Dining Hall. Free will offering to benefit The Lord's Pantry. Sponsored by the First Baptist Church of New Sweden.
9 am - 3 pm - Special exhibit of an early Swedish home, the Reinhold and Vivian Anderson home. Terri Kimble, granddaughter, will present memorable items, photos, and stories from her childhood house. Light refreshments will be served. Donations will be gratefully accepted. New Sweden Covenant Church 40 Westmanland Road, New Sweden
9 am - Vendor Booths and Artisans behind the Capitol School Museum/Gift Shop.
9am - 3pm - Raffle Ticket Sales- inside the NSHS Museum.
10 am - noon - Dala Horse painting behind the Capitol School/Gift Shop, family activity $5.00.
10 am - Floral Hair Wreaths; Lindsten Stuga; make your own, bring small wild flowers, cutters and floral wire.
10 am - 4 pm - Lars Noak Blacksmith Shop open with blacksmithing & woodworking demonstrations and displays.
11 am - 2 pm - Sandwiches, sweets, hot/cold drinks next to NSHS Museum.
Kubb - Viking lawn bowling for beginners. Beside the NSHS Museum.
Homemade Ice Cream - Near the Capitol School/Gift Shop. Sponsored by G.A. Lutheran Church
Hotdogs and Soda - Near the Capitol School/Gift Shop.
11 am - Decorating the Majstang (Maypole)
Behind the NSHS Museum, family activity, trimming the Pole with boughs and flowers, music and dancing; New Sweden Little Folk Dancers. Gather bouquets (flowers provided) and give them to the decorators. Join the dancers around the finished pole.
4 pm - 6pm - Swedish Supper at the Gustaf Adolf Lutheran Church, Capitol Hill Road, New Sweden. Tickets available at the door and in advance, Adults $18, Children age 3-10 $10, Free for children under 3 years old.
6:30 pm - Raffle winners will be drawn at G.A. Lutheran Church following the Swedish Supper.
