Make a Difference One Child At a Time, One Neighborhood At a Time

United Way is reaching out to volunteers and businesses to engage in new types of community building focused on one day in ONE NEIGHBORHOOD within East Gainesville's 32609 zip code.

Overview

* Pep Rally from 8-9 a.m. (Location TBA)

* Introduction of volunteer teams

* One Neighborhood Initiative with volunteer efforts concentrated in 32609

* Day long event with half and full-day projects: rain or shine

* Hundreds of volunteers and dozens of projects in the community

* Excellent opportunity for businesses to promote community engagement

* Great way for students to get involved & impact their community

* Unforgettable teambuilding experience for everyone involved

If your organization cannot participate on 09/09/09, but would like to get involved on another date, please contact the United Way at 352-331-2800 or lsergeant@unitedwayncfl.org.

Fill out the sign-up form and fax it to United Way at 352-331-2111 by 7/31/09.

Give.

Teams of volunteers will participate in half-and full-day volunteer efforts centered on education, income and health throughout the community.

Projects will include some new volunteer opportunities to help us reach our bold goals include: mentoring high school students for a day, helping local libraries run a children's program, building a BornLearning Trail for early childhood education, assisting parents in completing the online application for government assistance, "Extreme Makeovers" and library building for childcare centers and more.

Advocate.

Would your organization like to be considered for a volunteer project? Agencies, Schools, Daycare Centers and other project sites are encouraged to apply! This year United Way is encouraging you to think differently regarding projects for Day of Action. Get more info here.

Volunteer.

Volunteers with a wide variety of skills are needed. The best way to become involved is by recruiting a team and taking on a project!

Simply fill out the team sign-up form and fax it to United Way at 352-331-2111 by 7/31/09.

Sponsor.

We are looking for businesses that are willing to help cut the costs of project supplies and materials, either by in-kind or cash donations. Sponsors will receive recognition before, during and after the event through logo placement and signage.
