from:City Of Melbourne category:Government and Politics posted:May 13th, 2008The Brevard County Fire-Rescue Division and the Brevard County Sheriff's Office are currently working a large brush fire in the Valkaria, Florida area.
As a result of the fire conditions, and emergency equipment in the area, US 1 has been CLOSED in both directions (north and southbound) between Valkaria Road and North Rocky Point.
The duration of the road closure cannot be determined at this time and will continue until such time as conditions and fire-fighting efforts dictate that it is safe to reopen.
All media outlets will be updated as information is received and it is requested that this information be released at the earliest possible opportunity to advise perspective travelers in this area.
