Do you know vultures? One can never miss those ghastly creatures when a dozen are blocking an intersection, cleaning up the animal remnants that line Florida streets. We may admire them from afar, but we turn our heads as soon as we get close. Well the Zoo's newest exhibit brings vultures to the forefront, and we invite you to take a closer look and learn why these animals are such an asset to the environment.
The new exhibit will be located in our La Selva loop and features King, Black and Turkey vultures. Enjoy interactive displays, daily animal demonstrations, and more, as our new exhibit unveils the fun facts that just might drive you to fall in love with these mysterious beasts. Vultures opens Saturday, March 3.
To commemorate the new vulture exhibit, the Running Zone will host a 3K run happily titled "Buzzard's Bait" on Saturday, March 10, at 7:30 a.m. at the Zoo. This is the third race of the Running Zone's Race Series for 2007. Early registration fee is $20, and early registration ends March 3, 2007. After that the race fee is $25. The race will benefit Brevard Zoo. Admission to the Zoo is free that day if racing.
