Miami Childrens Theater
History :
The Miami Childrens Theater (MCT) is a performing arts production company founded with the purpose of introducing love and joy of the performing arts to children and young adults. MCT has become the home for young from all over South Florida, a place where children receive and share their most precious gift: their talents!
MCT was founded in 1996 by Angela Ardolino. Ms. Ardolino has developed and directed innovative programs for children for over twenty years. MCT insists on using the performing arts to instruct, console, entertain, and inspire the lives of not only young actors, but also the lives of our audiences. Our mission has always been to share the excitement of the arts with children in a fun and nurturing environment.
MCT teaches children age's 3 - 19 theater, magic, music, video production, the visual arts, creative writing, clowning, juggling and much more. Past productions include: Les Miserables, The Sound of Music, Pajama Game, Mulan Jr. Cyrano de Bergerac, Beauty and the Beast, Anything Goes, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Rapunzel, The Emperor's New Clothes, Into The Woods, Pandora and the Magic Box, The Wizard of Oz, West Side Story just to name a few. Miami Childrens Theater has been honored over the course of its twelve years and was chosen to be one of the first children's theater in the Southeastern United States to stage Les Miserables, School Edition.
Ms. Ardolino, along with the Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers strongly believe that if we present quality arts programming to our children, it will provide future generations with a culturally rich community. It is the intention of MCT to become a place for children to acquire, develop, and improve their craft and provide a place where which facilitates experimentation and growth.
Since it was founded in 1996, MCT has expanded and now includes year round programs at the Coral Gables Youth Center and the Dave and Mary Alper JCC. Miami Childrens Theater outreach programs reach out to every geographic, ethnic and cultural community in South Florida.
