Elliott Museum Presents “A Circus of Small Wonders”
The Elliott Museum is bringing back a simpler time with its summer exhibition, “A Circus of Small Wonders.” The centerpiece of the exhibition is a hand carved circus, from the Elliott collection, consisting of thousands of figures, vehicles and pieces of equipment capturing the essence of the “Big Top” right down to the smallest detail. The excitement of the circus coming to town is encapsulated in an extraordinary display of folk art rarely seen today. Many will fondly remember the circus that was on display in the museum’s main lobby for many years. It became almost synonymous with the Elliott Museum and achieved almost “rock star status” with the community.
The balance of this extraordinary exhibition will utilize vintage pieces from the museum’s collection to explore “play”. It is how we play and what we play that plays a pivotal role in our development and will help shape our lives as adults. Displays awash with color and unique lighting effects will result in a stunning and thought provoking exhibition. There will also be “hands on” play areas for children to imagine, create and enjoy.
