Finding the right school for your child – then helping them get the most out of their education – produces as much pressure as, oh, say, being asked to host the Oscars ten minutes before airtime. Public or private? Ultra-competitive or more laid back? We found some great resources to help dial down the anxiety and help put your kid on the academic path that’s perfect for them. Start here:

GreatSchools.net: This user-friendly site was founded by a former teacher, Bill Jackson. His belief is that parental involvement makes a huge difference in how schools –and students – perform. Search for a school (K-12), get expert advice on things like homework (how to get your kid to do it without starting a war) and determining your child’s academic readiness. There’s also insightful articles on various programs such as No Child Left Behind.

National Center for Educational Statistics: As you might expect, this is a bit “wonkier” with lots of official tables, figures and reports about the educational system around America. Plug in your criteria to locate either a public school or a private school, and get the details on their performance. Both are no-nonsense resources. Find them here:

Kwilson Says...

Hello my name is Kaitlyn and I was just wondering where the majority of high school students in Maple Falls attend school.  I'd like to know as soon as possible.  Thank you.
