Magnolia Manor of St. Simons is making some waves this summer. The Retirement Center kicked off their Island Lecture Series in June with a program on The Swine Flu & You presented by the local health department. Guests learned in-depth information on the H1N1 pandemic such as updated statistics, how humans are affected, and staying healthy.
The lecture series offers an opportunity to present hot topics, educational information, and public service announcements to people of all ages in the St. Simons Island community. The July topic, “Hurricane Preparedness”, will be presented by Captain Jay Wiggins of the Georgia Emergency Management Agency. This installment of the lecture series will prepare islanders for the upcoming hurricane season and will discuss important procedures of which everyone should be aware. The program will be held at the Retirement Center of the Magnolia Manor campus at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14th.
The third installment of the Island Lecture Series will be held on Tuesday, August 11th at 7:30 p.m. and will be presented by local board-certified dermatologist, Ashley Cavalier, MD, of Atlantic Shore Dermatology. The Island Lecture Series will be held monthly this summer at the Retirement Center located on 100 Heritage Drive. For more information on topics, speakers, and dates, please contact (912) 638-3844.
