In 1958 an interested group of parents who wanted their children to enjoy the benefits of competitive swimming and good health started what was then called the Warner Robins Warriors. At that time it was a summer only swim team.
Since then, the program has changed the name to the Aquanauts, grown to a year-round program, and made its mark in the world of competitive swimming. The Aquanauts are a part of the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association (GRPA), and USA Swimming; participating in both GRPA and USA swim meets throughout the year.
The Warner Robins Aquanauts Swim Team is self-supported and run by the parents of the swimmers. All administrative work, pool and grounds maintenance is done by the elected officers and members of the Board of Directors and parents. Income is derived from monthly fees, fundraising and donations (WRA, Inc. is a non-profit, 501 (C) (3) organization). Financial reports are posted in the pool office monthly and are available for review. Club by-laws are also maintained and posted in the pool office.
