Alexa Cooper and Kyndal Talton: Young Girls Bake To Raise Funds For Shelter

All Hero Nominee AmericanTowns Hero

The Haven is a place that provides temporary shelter, support and resources to victims of abuse and assault. Their mission is "to provide victims with the necessary information, resources, protected head start and supportive follow-up to transition out of a violent lifestyle and into successful independent living." They do that with the generous donations and contributions from community members like Alexa Cooper and Kyndal Talton who made cookies and treats for a special bake sale to raise money for The Haven. Volunteers like the young ladies (and their parents) are always welcome to coordinate fundraisers, events and activities. The Haven is happy to host Groups who are giving back as part of a formal day of service as well as individuals who want to participate in donation drives or direct services. Opportunities include leading workshops, teaching or demonstrating crafts or arts projects or watching a child for someone without options for childcare. You can even fulfill their wish list of current needs with items you might have around the house and be happy to pass along. Do you know someone or a group of people who raised awareness of an organization in need of support and donations? Nominate them for next week's AmericanTown's Heroes.
