Rotary Club of Windward Oahu
February 23, 1905, Chicago attorney, Paul Harris, invited three friends to meet with him to discuss an idea he had for a group whose purpose would be to cultivate business relationships and develop friendships. Thus was the beginning of the world’s oldest and most prestigious service club organization.
Although early meetings focused on fostering fellowship, before long the founders discovered a more profound purpose for their club. Within a year, the club began to formulate the basic tenants and principles, which later evolved into the Object of Rotary, encouraging and fostering the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise. Service, whether shared in our own communities or in the larger world community, is the very core of Rotary.
In this Centennial Year we will be celebrating the last 100 years of service and building the foundation for the next 100 years of opportunities to further our cause of service in seeking world peace and understanding.
