Volcano Art Center
The Volcano Art Center (VAC) is a nonprofit, tax-exempt, educational organization, founded in 1974. Our mission is to promote, develop, and perpetuate the artistic and cultural heritage of Hawai'i's people and environment through activities in the visual, literary, and performing arts. We seek to share this mission with a broad range of individuals, groups, and communities who share common interests and goals.
VAC is centered at Kilauea, home to Pele, the fiery Hawaiian goddess of the volcano. This dynamic, powerful environment, where new land is being formed every day, has inspired the Hawaiian people and their crafts, songs, dances, and legends for centuries. Today, this area continues to draw artists, performers, writers, scientists, and educators.
